The activities are designed to:

  • Provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences on challenges and opportunities encountered in the implementation of curriculum reforms.
  • Enable sharing of current researches, projects and best practices on continuing professional development to enhance the capabilities of biology teachers in achieving excellence in Biology education and research in the country.
  • Stress the responsibility of biology teachers and researchers in promoting interest and understanding of Biology and its interrelations to other fields.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the Philippine Normal University, to attend the 52nd BIOTA Annual National Convention & Scientific Sessions on April 6-8, 2017 with the theme "Biology Education in Unifying ASEAN Countries."

The essence of ASEAN integration is to produce highly qualified, vocational-technical and professional graduates. The integration brings to focus the need to assess our unique Philippine educational system in relation with those of the ASEAN nations so as to produce 21st century citizennationalists with international perspective. This convention seeks to explore issues and concerns relative to biology educators' crucial roles in the changing educational landscape.

Major activities include plenary sessions, seminars, workshops, hands-on activities, poster exhibits, BIOTA memorabilia display, commercial exhibits, and educational field trip.

The activities are designed to:

  • Provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences on challenges and opportunities encountered in the implementtation of curriculum reforms.

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION IS EXTENDED UNTIL MARCH 9, WEDNESDAY

The 51st BIOTA will be held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Laguna on April 7 to 9, 2016.

The very first BIOTA National Convention in 1966 was held in UPLB under the leadership of then BIOTA President, Prof. Pablo Alfonso. And for this year's convention, it is just fitting to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the association where it all started.

This year's theme is "BIOTA@50: Keeping the Fire of Knowledge Burning" which was taken from one of the lines of the BIOTA hymn and which we hope will be the association's aspiration @50 and beyond.

So join us BIOTAns and interested participants to this year's convention that will focus on sharing teaching practices and experiences in employing innovations in biology education to strengthen curricular reforms.

Major activities include plenary sessions, seminars, workshops, hands-on activities, poster exhibits, BIOTA memorabilia display, commercial exhibits, and educational field trip.

The activities are designed to:

  • Enable sharing of research findings, teaching practices, and experiences in the implementation of innovations in biology education to support curriculum reforms in different educational levels.
  • Stress the responsibility of biology teachers and researchers in promoting interest, understanding, and appreciation of the biological sciences; and
  • Provide a venue for presentation of current researches, projects, and experiences on continuing professional development to enhance the capabilities of biology teachers, and help achieve excellence in Biology education and research in the country.
