Abstract

As second home for children, schools should practice proper solid waste management. A good solid waste management program should be anchored on research. Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS) may be conducted to identify the type of wastes generated by a school and using this data, propose cost-efficient interventions to appropriately address the waste problem.

Expected participants of the workshop are teacher and student researchers interested in addressing solid waste management problem of their respective schools. In the workshop, they will experience the whole process of conducting WACS: diagnosis, action planning, and implementation. They are likewise expected to make a proposal ready for implementation when they return to their respective schools.
