Of Formulas and Diagrams: Communicating Floral Diversity II. The Monocots
Annalee Soligam Hadsall, Michelle DR Alejado

Last modified: 2017-03-17

Floral diversity can be evaluated by looking at the number of floral parts (floral formula) and the spatial relationships of these parts (floral diagram). In the previous workshop, symbols for floral parts were introduced. Teachers were taught how  to construct a simple floral diagram. This time focus will be on selected monocot flowers. Each is expected to dissect floral parts of any representative of the  grass family (Poaceae),  banana (Musaceae), ginger (Zingiberaceae) and bandera espanola (Cannaceae).
